The Study and Career Fair remains important when choosing an education or profession. New participants and activities proved this during the 2009 fair. The organization says the 16th edition was a great success.
Many visitors during the first day

``The turnout was good, visiting students were very motivated, the Dutch organization for the financing of education (IBG) had many questions to answer,’’ says Daisy Casimiri of Mon Art Productions, which organizes the fair under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. ``We hope that next year even more companies will participate, when we repeat the speed date activity.’’
Ruud Thuis, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was also very positive about the speed dating possibility, which enabled students to meet one on one with representatives of companies or industries they were interested in.

The Study and Career Fair would never have been this succesfull without the cooperation of regular dedicated participants such as the major Dutch universities and colleges, the University of the Netherlands Antilles, Curises, the University of the Dutch Caribbean, the College of the Dutch Caribbean, the CHATA, Aqualectra, Jansen de Jong and Refineria Isla, one of the largest employers of Curaçao.
Tania Kross inspires
``Everybody has something that suits them. For Churandy Martina it is sprinting, for Andruw Jones it is baseball, another is fascinated by the share trade on Wall Street and for me it is singing. Whatever it is, you can achieve what you want if you just believe in yourself and work very hard.''
These words by opera singer Tania Kross were an inspiration for more than a hundred young participants of the Youth Power Lunch in the Renaissance Hotel on July 15. The Youth Power Lunch is a gift by some fifteen sponsors to students with the best results and students who are an example for others. Master of Ceremonie was Crisen Schorea.
Ruud Thuis, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said Kross was a shining example that dreams can come through by working hard and perseverance. Janella Mook also sets a good example. This single mom received the second cheque of the Curacao Beverage Bottling Company, handed out by Myrthe Verhulst.
The organisation is content with the lunch. ``The speeches by Tania Kross and Ruud Thuis were very inspiring. I think they will be a great help for the students,'' said Daisy Casimiri.
The following organizations and companies made the Youth Power Lunch possible: The Curacao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles, Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino, Coca-Cola Curaçao, Korpodeko, Rotary Club Willemstad, Ennia, Spigthoff Advocaten en Belastingadviseurs, Chata, Fatum, Maduro & Curiel's Bank, CWM, First Caribbean International Bank, Irvita Plant Protection, Multipost, El Tributo and KPMG.

All participants got a photograph of the event from photographer and graphic designer Pito Polo.
